The Monarch Diagnostic Clinic offers services to clients of all ages from the greater community (students and non-students), including:
- Psychological Assessments – We use state-of-the-art methods and an experienced, multidisciplinary team of professionals to assess symptom expression (such as may be seen in autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorders, Tourette's, anxiety disorders, learning disorders, mood disorders, etc.), intelligence, achievement, adaptive functioning, communication styles, and relationship preparedness in children and adults. Family- and workplace/school-friendly recommendations are made based on each client’s unique presentation and circumstances.
- DIR®/Floortime™ Services - DIR® is the Developmental, Individual-Difference, Relationship-Based therapeutic approach developed by Stanley Greenspan, M.D., and Serena Wieder, Ph.D. Floortime™ is the heart of the DIR® Model’s developmental approach to intervention, and involves a systematic way of working with a child to help him/her climb the developmental ladder. Both approaches support children to become more active problem-solvers through interactive, affect-laden experiences that occur in the context of a strong therapeutic relationship.
- Speech/Language Assessments – Pragmatic and functional language use is assessed by licensed providers, as are oral motor functions for speech development, articulation, sound production, receptive and expressive language processing, and fluency.
- Speech/Language Therapy – We provide therapy aimed at supporting clients with pragmatic language difficulty, receptive and expressive language delays/disorders, difficulty with the articulation of speech, and/or development of augmentative communication.
- Tutoring and Executive Functions (EF) Support – Members of our multidisciplinary professional team provide targeted teaching across a range of subjects, and work with each client to develop an academic/workplace plan for enhancing functioning and productivity through increased planning and organization skills and use of self-evaluation techniques.
- Educational Assessments – For those students who struggle academically but are not experiencing complex psychological stressors, we offer assessment services that identify individual learning styles, pinpoint areas of strength and deficit, and suggest targeted directions for ongoing teaching and learning experiences.
- Consultation Services - We have a professional and ethical obligation to share what we have learned the past ten years in the process of developing our unique program, and are available to train teams of professionals (administrators, teachers and multi-disciplinary psychology staff) at our Houston campus. We also provide in-depth case review to support family and individual decision-making about accessing community programs and services.
- Brain Gym® - This movement-based approach recalls early natural movements infants engage in while when learning to coordinate the eyes, ears, hands, and body, and is aimed at enhancing brain functioning in the areas of concentration and focus, memory, physical coordination, relationship preparedness, organization skills, and others. The program was developed by educator and reading specialist Paul E. Dennison, Ph.D., and his wife and colleague, Gail E. Dennison, who say that the interdependence of movement, cognition, and applied learning is the basis of their work.
