The Center for Hearing and Speech serves children from infancy to age 18, as well as their parents. The Center’s programs have three focus areas, the Audiology Clinic, the Speech-Language Pathology Clinic and The Melinda Webb School. Children come from over 244 ZIP codes and 31 counties, demonstrating the vital needs the Center fulfills to our community.

The Center for Hearing and Speech is the only full-service resource in Houston to teach deaf children to listen and speak without the use of sign language. Since 1947, CHS has helped thousands of Houston-area children gain listening, speaking and literacy skills – the tools they need to improve their quality of life and achieve success in society.

Simply put, we learn all we can, and teach all we can, so more deaf children can gain the crucial gifts of sound and speech. Our skilled staff, our passion for children and our dedication to changing lives set us apart.  Come visit CHS to learn more about what makes us unique.

CHS is a United Way agency and provides all services on a sliding fee scale.
